House of Kala held a virtual dance competition and the winners performed in Reston, Washington on September 15th, 2024. Guru Sudha Chandra Sekhar was invited as a Chief Guest for the event. Akhilesh Vadari, cousin of HTR alum Haritha Vadari, headed this national event bringing dancers together from around the country. HTR alum Sharanya Swaminathan was part of the senior finalists item and performed a lovely rendition of “Nrityathi Nrityathi” with two other artists. Akhilesh himself performed an outstanding Devi Stuthi, followed by some beautiful Kuchipudi numbers taught by dancer Archana Raja. Sudha Aunty was joined by Dramatic Artist Satish Darbha, who was also an honored guest at the event. Seattle’s House of Kala is a growing artists’ platform aimed at providing opportunities for dancers around the US to perform and share their art. We thank House of Kala for their recognition of Sudha Aunty’s dedication to the art with the new title “Nritya Jeevan Puraskar”.
