Performed live on April 12th, 2025 at Bharatiya Temple of Troy, MI
‘Shivaayana’ Tandav 2025 was successfully completed, with all our students from Grade 1 to High School, College, and Adults participating in a colorful program that lasted 4.5 hours, followed by a trophy
distribution and recognition ceremony that lasted another two hours. What made it extra special was the Live Orchestra, which featured the Chandrasekhar family, dancing and singing, together.
Vidya Chandrasekhar was on vocals in the orchestra, with Gopal Ven on vocals and music direction, Sam Jeyasingham and son Abhi on the Mridangam, and percussion, Deekshita Balaji on the violin, Shreya Swaminathan on the flute, and Prabha Thayalan on Veena. They gave admirable support to the dancers with their melodious singing, toe-tapping rhythms, and remarkable instrumental accompaniment to the Nattuvangam by ‘Nritya Kala Shikharojwala’ Sudha Chandrasekhar herself. Nritya Sudha is celebrating her 80th year in dance this year.
The audience was treated to a delightful fantasy of classical pure dances, storytelling from epics and mythology, and dramatic sequences, by the well-trained dancers. The little ones stole the show with their interpretations of Lord Shiva, while the older students brought our stories of Goddess Parvati, her dynamic sons Lord Ganesh and Lord Karthikeya, the celestial Lords of the Heavens, and Lord Vishnu, Brahma, and their consorts Goddesses Mahalakshmi and Saraswathi. A great show turned out by an outstanding group of 80 dancers.
HTR thanks all the devoted parents, participants, the generous sponsors, advertisers, caterers, and our HTR volunteers, the enthusiastic audience and the Sound engineer.
Shri Rajkumar Ramamurthy for his tremendous assistance at the sound booth and lights, and Bharatiya Temple for the venue. May each and every one of you be blessed with an abundance of energy, health, wealth, and prosperity throughout your lives.
